How to Make Zippered Pouch
Hi, I found http://www.cutoutandkeep.net on how to make handmade craft. Hundreds of craft tutorial are displayed here nicely, like how to make zippered pouch like the one below. I certainly want to try this as my simple sewing project.

Aku udah gak sabar mo coba proyek jahit di atas. Bikin dompet resleting, reaaally beginner project. Tapi kayaknya kalo bisa buat yang simpel gini, aku bisa tambah pede untuk memasuki dunia jahit-perjahitan hehehe.... :)

Pilih-pilih Mesin Jahit Portable
Beberapa waktu yang lalu kesukaanku bertambah, dari yang asik crochet/ngerenda, nambah lagi jadi coba-coba jahit. Bukan... bukan baju (kayaknya belum cukup ilmu :P ). Yang pengen kubuat adalah yang lebih simpel, seperti pouch, clutch, messenger bag dll. Nah, untuk itu rasanya perlu mesin jahit. Mulai deh browsing tentang mesin jahit.
Ada artikel bagus dari Mbak Susi yang punya http://rumahjahithaifa.com tentang informasi seputar mesin jahit. Membantu sekali loh, salah satu poinnya kalo disuruh milih antara mesin jahit tradisional dan portabel, kalo untuk pemula mending yang portabel deh, karena banyak pilihan stitch-nya.
Kayaknya aku tertarik pada mesin portable merk S***** dan Jan*** jadi deh browsing Internet, ternyata harganya lumayan... mahal! Hehehe... Dari segi kantong dan keilmuan kayaknya belum mumpuni nih. Aku pengen cari yang portabel tapi simpel buat pemula (yang gak terlalu banyak jenis stitch, karena kalo gak dipake semua kan mubazir fasilitas).
Rada-rada nelangsa sih karena udah berminggu-minggu ngubek toko mesin jahit online belum nemu yang pas (dari sisi bentuk, merk dan kantong). Iseng-iseng coba cek toko mesin jahit di kotaku. Eh, ternyata nemu yang imut dan dengan harga di bawah rata-rata pula (aku dah cek di internet kisaran harganya). Ni dia!
Penjualnya bilang produksinya satu pabrik dengan kakaknya si S***** cuma karena belum seterkenal merk kakaknya, makanya harganya lebih murah. Aku liat juga spare partnya sama persis, baik dari bentuk bahan. Jadi percaya aja deh :P
Sejauh ini aku coba asik banget pakenya, karenanya suaranya halus gak heboh seperti mesin jahit tradisional, dan ada 9 jenis stitch yang bisa dipake termasuk jahit lurus 3 posisi (maksudnya posisi kiri, tengah, dan kanan). Ada satu jenis stitch yang unik bentuknya seperti angka 3 yang diurutkan vertikal, rasanya bisa dipake mirip obras (atau semi obras?) dan bisa juga untuk hiasan border kain. Kalo dijadikan hiasan, ntar pinggiran kain seperti bergelombang.
Trus ada juga fasilitas switching jahit mundur yang sangat berguna untuk memperkuat jahitan. Fasilitasnya seperti kenop yang kalo ditekan jahitan berjalan mundur.
Dalam penjualannya, mesin ini dilengkapi dengan starter kit yang terdiri dari:
- 2 spool benang
- kuas dan minyak mesin jahit
- sepatu pasang resleting, fasilitas untuk pasang kancing dan tatakannya, dan sepatu untuk segala keperluan
- tatakan mesin untuk menutup gigi mesin dari "menggigit" kain (biasanya untuk bordir/embroidery,walaupun untuk fasilitas satu ini harus beli sepatu tambahan (aku udah coba tanpa sepatu khusus embroidery dan hasilnya gak lancar, nyangkut terus di mata jarumnya).

O iya, mesin ini juga dilengkapi dengan lampu di atas kaki jarumnya, jadi gak sampe tebal mata karena gelap-gelap masukin benang ke jarum :D
Kesimpulannya, I'm soooo happy having this sewing machine. Good slender looking, not too crowded with many stitching modes, friendly price and easy to use. Happy sewing everyone! :D

Crochet Flower Brooch
I got few holiday due to coming of a month fasting on this year Ramadhan. It means I'm so happy meeting Ramadhan and fasting again, and also means there is more time to crochet a little bit.
So far I made five crocheted brooch. On all of them modified a little bit here and there for every one of it, 'coz I hate making the same thing twice.
However there is one basic pattern for making crochet flower brooch. You just have to know how to do basic crochet stitch. Here is the pattern I try to translate from my brooch. Hope you understand. Let me know if you have question :)
CROCHET FLOWER BROOCH
Round 1 (R1) : Make 8 chains (ch), and slip stitch (ss) to the 2nd chain from your finger to make a ring.
R2 : Make 6 chain, 1 double crochet (dc). Make 4 ch, 1 dc for 7 more, and ss to 3rd ch. There will be eight 4-chain-space.
R3 : 1 ss, 1 single crochet (sc), 1 double crochet (dc), 1 triple crochet (tc), 1 dc, 1 sc, ss to the next 4 chain space. Do it for 7 more. Ss to R2 3rd chain.
R4 : 1 chain, sc at the same hole, 5 chain, back post single crochet (bpsc) to R2 dc for 7 more. Ss to the sc.
R5 : ss to the first 5-chain, 1 sc, 1 dc, 2 tc, 1 dc, 1 sc and ss to bpsc of R4. Do it 8 times. Ss to the 1st sc.
R6 : 1 ch, 1 sc to the same hole. Make 8 ch, 1 bpsc of R5 for 7 more. Ss to the 1st sc.
R7 : Ss to the 1st 8 chain space. 1 sc, 2 dc, 3 tc, 2dc, 1 sc, ss to R6 dc. Do it 7 more.
So far you have 2 stacks of flower petals. You can continue doing step R3-R7 (+1 ch on R4 and +2 ch on R7) on and on to make more stacks.

Crochet Baby Booties
Sorry if it's taking too long for my next post. It's been crazy time where daily errands seem endless. Anyway, I want to take a close picture of other crochet I made. It's a baby booties. It tooks many times before I could make it perfect. (Lots and lots mistakes, yet it's worth it).
This baby booties based on a pattern I bought on monpetiteviolon.etsy.com. Well I had to made and remade the steps, but I am soooo happy when it ended :) Here are the look.
Actually there are many free crochet pattern out there. Just check ravelry.com and you got tons of free pattern. I bought this pattern because I "need" to see the steps of making baby booties. Hey, I hope I can show you how to make it someday. Just leave me comments if you want me to :)
